Cosentino

This was the first CDW for Cosentino’s fabulous new showroom in an imposing former bank. The surface manufacturer wanted a luxurious Mediterranean-inspired showroom to reflect its Spanish roots, and Vantage supplied the biophilic element throughout the design project. We knew it was a very special project when we finished it, but it was great going back to have another look.

The double-height reception area has imposing pyramids of planting – huge tropical specimens in Mediterranean style urns. Elsewhere, a bubble skylight above a board room table has been framed with trailing replica planting, drawing the eye upwards and through a stunning lighting feature. The sanctuary-like vibe really stands out in this project, and the planting helps to impart that feeling of pared-down luxury.

Workagile

At Workagile, we styled our EnviroGrid with hanging replica and preserved planting to create a lush hanging ceiling. It looked great combined with vintage style lighting and suspended over Workagile’s brightly coloured modular furniture. Workagile is all about creating flexible, dynamic and efficient spaces, and we use EnviroGrid alongside planted furniture to do this in countless projects. Instead of permanent plaster and ceiling tiles – use flexible planted walls and ceilings!

Gresham

At bespoke furniture supplier Gresham, we used preserved foliage arrangements in floor-standing pillar pots, and also applied them to suspended structural beams that would otherwise remain bare. With its no-maintenance credentials (other than an occasional light dusting!), preserved foliage is an excellent way of extending biophilic design into hard-to-reach corners and areas that receive little natural light. And because preserved foliage is organic, it still provides that much-loved connection with nature.

"The preserved planting received lots of compliments and really enhanced the space."

– Faye Robinson, Showroom Manager, Gresham

William Hands

Premium furniture brand, William Hands, has a beautiful showroom. We punctuated this space with freestanding tropical specimen plants and leafy bowls. The subtle, natural tones of our tall pots really complemented the neutral colour scheme, allowing the lush leafy greens to add a pop of colour.

"We are very happy with the planting. It has brought colour and warmth into our new showroom. The space is very architecturally interesting, the planting has softened the feel and has really helped us breakup the space."

– Robert Hamilton, CEO, William Hands

It was heartening to see the best brands in office design wholeheartedly embracing biophilia at CDW this year. I think it’s safe to say that the power of planting is widely recognised by those in the know!
