Investing in the future

We were delighted to work on this incredible project undertaken by real estate investment firm CBRE Inc. on behalf of Capital Group, one of the world's largest investment management organisations. Capital Group wanted to double its office space, investing in the future and in its workforce, and what better place to do it than Paddington Square – a bustling mix of working, shopping and dining, sitting above one of the busiest transport interchanges in central London.

A space brimming with potential

We worked closely with architects TP Bennett and Overbury build specialists on this huge space. Covering nine floors, it is simply brimming with potential and boasts a magnificent 360° terrace. Inside, a bright, welcoming space features curved organic shapes which help to balance the modern industrial vibe. High spec lighting, soft furnishings and planting further complement the space, and large planted beds under the central stairway help to soften the sweep of marble steps.

Vibrant ‘outside-in’ spaces

Provision has been made for seven ‘outside-in’ spaces where workers can hot-desk, take breaks or have one-to-one meetings. The design required bespoke furniture planters from Thorpes Joinery and Workstation, and we worked closely with the furniture manufacturers to ensure correct measurements for a seamless install – the results are superb, with living planting incorporated into banquette planters, freestanding planters and tea point planting. This space is all about collaboration – a mix of open and more intimate spaces creates a vibrant buzz.

A stunning planted terrace

The 360° terrace overlooking grand vistas of London is an attraction in itself in this space. We used planting to create outdoor ‘rooms’, where workers can take time away from their desk, rendezvous ‘on the terrace’ with colleagues, and enjoy the stunning views. Using a mix of planter styles, we created a planting design featuring lush outdoor coastal plants that will thrive in the elevated outdoor environment.
