Shaped by nature

We worked closely with design-and-build company Gravity Office Interiors to deliver this new expanded office for Montpellier Legal. The brief for this space was for it to be shaped by nature and it really is a wonderful organic space, full of tasteful colouring, natural elements and beautiful biophilic accents.

Organic forms and raw shapes

The design takes inspiration from the peace and tranquillity found by rivers and mountains, and plays with organic forms and raw shapes that have been carved by nature. A harmonious palette of grey blues and neutrals is complemented by natural wood tones and grey steelwork. This palette is echoed in the preserved planting in cabinet-top troughs – the grey green discs of eucalyptus work particularly well. The troughs are used as dividers between working and breakout spaces, providing privacy, screening and noise reduction throughout the space.

An ‘outside-in’ feel

Bespoke replica trees with tactile natural trunks are dotted around the office, giving an outside-in feel to breakout areas and creating calm throughout. At the heart of the client-facing space, a structure inspired by the tranquillity of Japanese-style gardens features a replica tree, rocks and a bamboo sculpture reminiscent of forests – it is a space for teams to gather and celebrate.

The overall space has a great balance of effective focus spaces, meeting rooms and social zones, all enhanced with natural materials and biophilic elements, promoting a sense of calm and wellbeing throughout.
